Thank you so much! Haha, I’m hoping the publications will have me. I’ve got a busy few weeks coming up so I expect it’ll be February before I get around to pitching, but that’s life 😅

I’m so glad it’s it just me! I think I might have to turn the sale emails off (the Steam and Nintendo emails always lure me in). Very relatable story about the cart, I’ve done similar things before.

I expect we’ll both really enjoy completing Eastward if we can. I loved it when I started it!

Yes! Once you do play through Eastward I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. It’s actually one of my top priority backlog games to play so I’m probably going to be starting it soon. As soon as I finish that other game I’m supposed to review but still haven’t 😂

It's a great list! I honestly have had to hack my brain on the backlog idea, though not particularly successfully. I used to play everything but at some point in the early 2020s, I realized that my completionist, fomo brain was just buying things (giant backlog) or stealing hours (collectibles ! side quests!)

So now I refuse to call it a backlog and I try to think 'I don't need to see everything in a game' and 'choose the next game based on what you want to play' and 'stop buying new games.' And then I fill my game store baskets and desperately try to visit every '?' on the map🤣🤣...

Thank you! I am very lucky to have a good collection of games coming up.

The second paragraph of your comment is painfully relatable. I really need to absorb the 'I don't need to see everything in a game' thing. Otherwise I get stuck on the same game for months!

Good to let this stuff out. This is a safe space 🤣

My backlog is just about every game I’ve ever bought minus a dozen or so that I’ve actually played through to completion. So no shame. Of course I might be a bad one to compare to, haha. I tend to buy games en masse during sales with the intention of playing them. Some day.

I had a moment this last week where I was trying to clear some games off my Steam wishlist. It was the last day of the Winter sale and I had my cart loaded up with games I’ve wanted to play for ages. I gave myself a $50 spending limit. The problem was I kept going over the $50 but to get it back down I had to remove some games I really wanted. A couple of these were games I already owned on Switch. And then I kept seeing the amount of games in my library (that I haven’t played) and I realized how ridiculous it all was. I ended up buying nothing. Though this is mostly because something in my life came up that I had to take care of and it pulled me away for the rest of the day and I missed the sale. I was totally still going to do it. So it’ll have to wait for the Summer sale 😂

Eastward is also on my list of games in my backlog that I plan to play this year. I’m actually mad at myself that I haven’t yet.

I’m looking forward to your deep dives on the slightly outdated stuff. I haven’t done well with keeping up with game stuff this last year anyway. And I hope you do get to write for the publications that are on your list. They’d be lucky to have you!
